Graduation Days
It's that time of year. The school year has come to an end, and kids are graduating. Larsson has graduated into the "Toddler Class."
I stopped by to check on him today. Or more appropriately, spy on him. I peered over the wall into his class and watched him for 5 to 10 minutes. I couldn't believe it. I thought I was going to cry.
He sat next to the teacher and watched her write their names on papers. Hand them out to each student. Provide them crayons. And then my baby (ahem toddler) tried to scribble on the paper as he pushed the crayon... and the paper around in front of him. Just adorable.

Tuesday Tidbits
- Larsson is teething... I think. Not too many symptoms, but a slight fever. That spikes by the end of the day. I think it's more molars. I hope they are in soon.
- Watched my dad in Drop Dead Diva last night. Cute show on Lifetime. He played a judge in the most recent episode. No lines but a few good shots of him. He did a great job.
- Weight Loss Challenge: week 1 - Down 3.9%. Ran the Peachtree Road Race (10K) route this weekend with the Atlanta Track Club Peachtree in Training group. It was HOT, but I did it! And survived to tell the tale.

Massage, please.
We were at HippoHopp the other day for a birthday party. Taking a break from play, Larsson climbed into a massage chair in the corner. A large black comfy chair. The kind where you put money in and rollers run up and down your back.
The owner (a friend of ours) kneeled down and placed a key in the locked money slot of the chair. He opened a little box, pulled out $2, closed the lock and fed the money into back into the chair.
It immediately turned on. Rollers worked up Larsson's back. Larsson's eyes got BIG. He looked up with curiosity.
Then we returned to playing. About 15 minute later, Larsson found daddy's keys hidden in his shoes. Larsson took the keys to the chair. To the money slot and turned them.
Of course, our keys didn't open the money box.
But it made me laugh.
I guess he was ready for another massage....
He and mama both!

Oh, It's on now!
I have posted a few times about losing that final baby weight I gained. And sadly, have not hit my goals.
But now it's on.
No more excuses.
I signed up for a Weight Loss Challenge at my gym. Cash prizes for highest percentage of weight lost. I am going to lose the weight and win some money.
That's my goal and commitment.
Cash prizes are a great motivator. And when I win the cash, we are going to book a trip to Sweden. It is really important to me that Larsson meet his great grandmother and visit family in Sweden as often as possible. Additional motivation.
As part of the challenge, we have take a certain number of fitness classes each week, which will keep me on track. Plus track club runs.
The hitch is... my step. Sciatic pain started last week. Falling apart. Despite the issues, I ran 4 miles on Saturday and took 2 classes - one yoga/tai chi class and one pilates type with bands. The stretching helped. And seeing the chiropractor this a.m. should have helped as well.
I am going to weigh myself everyday, keep a food journal and measure my steps. I appreciate encouragement and support. Anyone who wants to exercise with me or help hold me accountable is welcome.
It's on!

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
The Good: We bought a new-to-us car. A silver Ford Edge. And sold our much loved '97 Ford Explorer to our in-laws. We will miss you, T-Bird. New car is yet to be named. Any suggestions?
The Bad: Our washing machine stopped. in the middle of a load of wash. full of water. full of detergent. full of clothes. any suggestions on buying washing machines?
The Ugly: My knees. All scraped up. bruised and gross. Wiped out during weekly track club run. Tripped on uneven pavement. Thankful it was not worse.

A Birthday Memorial Day Weekend
Memorial Day is always a big weekend for us. Cookouts. Family Time.
And celebrating Justin's birthday. Plus sending birthday wishes to my cousin, Debbie.
This year, Justin turned 35. We surprised him - not easy to do. A birthday party in Pine Mountain. With a handful of our closest friends and family.
Ervin smoked a butt. That's a Boston Butt. Also known as pork.
Grilled vegetables. Twiced baked taters. That means cheese and sour cream. Ingredients that grow your butt. But every calorie is worth it.
The cake. Fit for a fisherman.
The birthday boy. [not pictured: the candles. We had to improvise. there was no five. we used two "3"s and turned one backwards. candles are a recurring unintentional joke with Justin's birthday cakes. last year, they were placed as 4-3 instead of 3-4.]

Turners like cake. More kids than adults these days!

Priceless: Disney Memories
$50: the price for new toys and snacks for Larsson's first plane trip.
Free: Buttons, windows, people and intrigue of a new experience
Priceless: getting such great advice from friends and family for that another passenger remarked how well Larsson did. No tears. No fits.
$15: the price for a child harness (aka leash).
Free: mixed reactions and looks of disapproval. One park-goer was overheard LOUDLY telling her spouse she would leave him if he ever "did THAT to their kid."
Fact: They had no children. Surprisingly, there were only three other families at Disney that day using child harnesses.
Priceless: The ability to give Larsson some freedom while teaching him parameters. No missing child scares.
$80: price for one Disney park ticket for one day.
Free: the birds, ducks (the real little donalds) and benches that interested Larsson most.
Priceless: the look of awe and wonder on Larsson's face as we went through It's a Small World. Memories of taking Larsson to Disney for the first time.
