Bubble Boy

So...  after this weekend, we are actively searching for bubble wrap or a bubble for our rambunctious, curious and recently accident-prone Tater.

We made an early departure from a birthday party on Saturday because Larsson poked himself in the eye with a plastic fork.  Fortunately, a visit to the ER told us that no permanent damage was done - a minor corneal abrasion that would heal.

When we got home, Larsson ran next door. As I turned around and heard my sister screaming, I immediately joined her in shrieking because my neighbor's basketball (which was grounded properly) was coming crashing down on his head. I seriously did not know what I would find... and I don't know how he escaped with only a large bump on his head.

But...  our nerves were done.

Advanced Lessons in Potty Training

I have been travelling a decent amount recently for work, so Justin and Larsson have had quality time together.

They went to dinner the other night to a local taqueria with our neighbors and DidDit, and sat on the patio to munch on tacos and chips and cheese dip.

During dinner, Larsson told Justin that he needed to "go potty."

Justin said ok, put down his taco, wiped his hands, and began to get out of his chair.  As he moved around, he saw that Larsson had taken some initiative.

And was "watering the flowers" through the wrought iron fence.

We're In Trouble

Larsson and I were driving home from the store, and he was being especially cute and sweet, as I peaked at him through the rearview mirror.

Being uber cheesy as I am, I said, "Larsson, mommy's in love.  Did you know that?"

Without looking up or missing a beat, he said, "uh huh.  And I'm in charge."

No doubt.  And we're in trouble.  LOL!

It's fun to stay at the YMCA

We recently joined the YMCA, which many refer to as "The Y."

Except for Larsson who calls it "the X."

It took us awhile to switch from our temporary passes to get our photo id's. Larsson and Daddy got theirs while I was taking a class.

Larsson stood outside the door of my class and waited for me to come out of my class to proudly show me his very own ID card. Then he held onto it and carried it around all day.

When I went to get my photo taken, Larsson was so excited. I sat in the chair and Larsson sat by me. Right when the picture was snapped, he popped his little head up over my shoulder. My ID card has my photo with me and the best part of me - that precious 3 year old. I love it!

Larsson on birthdays....

Larsson: Dada, what do you want for your birthday?

Justin: just your love, peanut.

(Slight pause)

Larsson: I not a party cake.

Larsson:  When I get big, I want to be a fireman.

And a Batman.

anatomy by a 3 year old

Larsson: (after examining self) Mommy, my winkler has a hole in it.

When I relayed the story to my sister-in-law, she responded: That's what makes it a sprinkler.

Damage

This past weekend, Larsson exclaimed, "DAMAGE!"

Justin and I looked at each other.

With concealed giggles.

And knowing glances.

Of what Larsson was actually saying.

And more importantly, what we need to make sure we are not saying.

That's the damage.

Such a gentleman

We went to a birthday party for Larsson's friend, Ben, on Sunday. Ben has two younger sisters - the twins, Emily and Eden.

Ben's father approached Justin and me and said he needed to talk to us about our son. He was impressed to hear from their teachers that Larsson watches out for his girlfriends at school and on the playground.

Good to know that Larsson is learning to be a gentleman from the start.

Soccer

After several weeks where he would only watch or participate for up to 15 minutes, Larsson actually played in a game.

The last game of the season.

But it was fun to watch.

Displays

Aunt Rachel (also known as Ditdit - pronounced deet deet) often jokes and says she wants to get a display case or a shelf for Larsson, so she can place him there and appreciate his adorableness.

This morning, when Larsson woke up, the first thing he said was, "Ditdit has something at her house and she is gonna put me on it."

Larsson has not appeared to have heard or understood her comments previously. And while I am certain he had no idea what he was saying, his adoration for his DitDit was shown in the excitement in his voice. And is on display every time they play together.

In a Blind Panic

So I decided to get handy this week.

I decided that I would put up two sets of new blinds myself.

The precise measurements, leveling, and drilling are not my strong point. Let's just say that I almost caused a fire a few years ago when trying to hang something on the wall.

But I wanted to get this done, so I pulled out my drill and decided to get to it. 30 minutes to get this done and then pick up my favorite little boy from school.

I drilled my holes, put in the screws and put up my first set of blinds. I extended the blinds to cover the window.

And Wallah!

Nice.

Wait.

What is that smell?

Smells like gas.

Is that gas?

Could there be a gas line or something I drilled through?

OMG.

So I called my neighbor whose husband does contract work and remodeling.

She said she would send him down.

She came down about five minutes later and said he was on his way.

So I showed Debbie the blinds and where I was noticing the smell. Which was strongest at the top of the window.

She didn't notice it at first, but once she stood on the ladder, she smelled it.

Hmm, it does smell kinda like gas.

But why would there be a gas line running there behind a window?

Wait. Is it the blinds themselves?

uhh....

yes. I think it is.

wow. And I haven't even been freshly blonded.

Well, I did hope Debbie would be able to help. And she did.

Problem solved. With a few minutes to spare to pick up my boy.

Whoosh.

1st Soccer Practice

A cold, windy morning - in the 30s.

We got out to the fields, found the Titans, got Larsson's jersey, and practiced kicking the ball around while waiting for the team to organize.

After about 10 minutes, Larsson picked up the ball and started walking away from the field.

When asked where he was going, he replied, "I'm going to warm up in the car."

#11 did not last long.

But he did look awfully cute in his jersey.

Maybe this Saturday, he will stay for the actual practice and game.

We'll ease into it. :)

Go Titans

I received an email this week.

"Dear Titan parents"

Larsson is now a Titan!

Saturday is his first soccer practice and game.

I may die over the adorableness of it all.
